Introducción: El comportamiento del adolescente en el deporte expone algunos aspectos de su personalidad, siendo de gran importancia las actitudes y conductas que empezarán a formar parte de su carácter. Es necesario matizar, controlar y vigilar los niveles de violencia que son desarrollados en el contexto de la actividad deportiva, lo que necesariamente hallará expresión en un mayor esfuerzo y mayor ímpetu para lograr la victoria, pudiendo ser el vehículo la actitud violenta en el juego. La práctica deportiva conlleva un alto riesgo de traumatismos dentoalveolares, por lo que es necesario que los entrenadores y deportistas conozcan sobre el uso adecuado de los protectores bucales y el procedimiento de urgencia ante la aparición de un trauma dental.
Introduction: The behavior of adolescents in sports exposes some aspects of their personality, being of great importance the attitudes and behaviors that will begin to form part of their character. It is necessary to nuance, control and monitor the levels of violence that are developed in the context of sports activity, which will necessarily find expression in a greater effort and greater impetus to achieve victory, the violent attitude in the game being the vehicle. Sports practice carries a high risk of dento-alveolar trauma, so it is necessary for coaches and athletes to know about the proper use of mouth guards and the emergency procedure in the event of dental trauma. The mouthguard is a basic resource that is used to prevent dental or maxillofacial injuries during the practice of some sports that involve some degree of violence or confrontation.
