The aim of this article is to analyze in first place the way in which photography is inserted into Los Derrotados, by means of both an explicit reference to photographic images as well as a theoretical reflection on the scope of this technical medium. Secondly, we are interested in studying the role of the herbarium as one of the devices which, before the invention of photography, has revealed the major problem of representation across theoretical studies on image since the 19th century up to date. Finally, we are going to explore the ties among the image, the herbarium and the biographical genre.
La propuesta de este trabajo consiste en analizar, en primer lugar, la manera en que la fotografía se implanta dentro de Los derrotados, tanto a partir de la referencia explícita a imágenes fotográficas, así como también a partir de una reflexión teórica sobre los alcances del medio técnico. En segundo lugar, interesa estudiar el herbario como uno de los dispositivos que, años antes de la invención de la fotografía, dejaba ver el gran problema de la representación que recorre los estudios teóricos sobre la imagen desde el siglo xix hasta hoy. Por último, se analizarán los vínculos entre las imágenes, el herbario y el género biográfico.
