Itinerario de piezas sueltas: el sincretismo en edificaciones cristianas : México, siglo XVI

El siguiente artículo pone en discusión la intencionalidad del sincretismo religioso presente en la evangelización de México en el siglo XVI. En la simbiosis particular que se produce entre los elementos prehispánicos y la arquitectura europea cristiana, ¿puede hablarse de una disposición consensuada de estos elementos, es decir, autorizada por los frailes, o más bien evidencia un acto de rebeldía de los nativos para resguardar su cultura y creencia? Como caso de estudio fue seleccionado el registro fotográfico de cuatro piedras con relieves prehispánicos empotradas en cuatro edificios cristianos de Cuautitlán, Huaquechula, Cholula, y Tzintzuntzan. El escrito pretende ampliar el término sincretismo y explorar sus diferentes maneras de manifestarse en el periodo delimitado.
The following article discuss the purpose of the religious syncretism that took place during Mexico´s evangelization in the XVI Century. Whilst adressing the particular symbiosis produced between prehispanic elements and Christian European architecture, can we talk about a reached consensus on the location of those elements, that is to say, authorized by the friar in charge, or is it perhaps the evidence of a rebel act from the natives in order to protect their culture and beliefs? As study case it has been selected the photographies of four stones with prehispanics reliefs embedded in four christian buildings in Cuautitlán, Huaquechula, Cholula and Tzintzuntzan. This article shall expand the concept of syncretism and explore it´s different ways of manifestation in the delimited period.
