Existen serias dudas acerca del rol del diseño en el consumo desmedido y en las consecuencias ambientales derivadas: ¿es cómplice?, ¿lo alienta?, ¿tiene un papel moderador?, ¿se involucra o se desentiende de esta cuestión? Si el diseño es una práctica cultural, ¿cómo fundamenta el diseñador sus decisiones y cómo aborda las consecuencias de su actividad profesional? Investigar para diseñar supone un punto de partida para pensar en un diseño sostenible.
Serious doubts arise as to the role of design in the excessive consumption and its environmental consequences. Is design an accomplice to it? Does it promote it? Does it have a moderator role? Does it get involved in the situation or does it ignore it? If design is a cultural practice, how does it justify its decisions and how does it deal with the consequences of its professional activity? Doing research to design involves a source contribution to think about a sustainable design.
