La promoción y comunicación de los Derechos Humanos Ambientales representa una estrategia para visibilizar la intersección entre la dignidad humana y la protección del planeta. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo caracterizar la opinión de especialistas en información ambiental sobre la pérdida del glaciar en el Pico Humboldt de la Sierra Nevada en Mérida, Venezuela, enfocados desde los Derechos Humanos Ambientales. Mediante una investigación tipo cualitativa-descriptiva, se emplea la técnica de entrevista semiestructurada para alcanzar el propósito de este estudio. Los resultados muestran que los especialistas entrevistados lamentan la pérdida acelerada del glaciar por el cambio climático, pese a inevitabilidad histórica; argumentan que Comunicación Ambiental es deficiente por el desinterés ciudadano, inestabilidad institucional y burbujas informativas; proponen la creación de redes con verificación y educación legal. Se concluye que existe escasa información sobre los Derechos Humanos Ambientales relacionados con la desaparición acelerada del glaciar en el Pico Humboldt, último de Venezuela, así como brechas en Comunicación Ambiental y desinformación en redes sociales.
The promotion and communication of Environmental Human Rights represents a strategy to highlight the intersection between human dignity and the protection of the planet. The objective of this research is to characterize the opinion of environmental information specialists on the loss of the glacier on Pico Humboldt in the Sierra Nevada in Mérida, Venezuela, from the perspective of Environmental Human Rights. Using a qualitative-descriptive research approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted to achieve the purpose of this study. The results show that the specialists interviewed lament the accelerated loss of the glacier due to climate change, despite its historical inevitability. They argue that environmental communication is deficient due to public disinterest, institutional instability, and information bubbles. They propose the creation of networks with verification and legal education. It is concluded that there is little information on environmental human rights related to the accelerated disappearance of the glacier on Pico Humboldt, the last in Venezuela, as well as gaps in environmental communication and misinformation on social media.
