Introducción: El ajuste oclusal a través de un desgaste selectivo es un procedimiento de corrección de los contactos interoclusales, tendientes a conseguir y mantener la centricidad mandibular. El objetivo de este es: Obtener el trípode mínimo funcional, Restablecer la Dimensión Vertical y Devolver y mantener la estabilidad oclusal. Está indicado cuando existe disfunción del sistema estomatognático y en el cual, la oclusión es la principal causa; en rehabilitaciones simples y complejas, después de un tratamiento dental y antes, durante y después de un tratamiento ortodóntico.
Introduction: Occlusal adjustment through selective wear is a procedure to correct interocclusal contacts, with the aim to achieve and maintain mandibular centricity. The objective is: To obtain the minimum functional tripod, to reestablish the vertical dimension of occlusion and to maintain the occlusal stability. This procedure is indicated when there is a dysfunction of the stomatognathic system in which occlusion is the main cause; in simple and complex restorations; after prosthodontics treatment; and before, during and after orthodontic treatment. To achieve this, we must order the diagnosis (dis-occlusion, three-dimensional alignment and occlusion).
