La responsabilidad social en las bibliotecas universitarias : una forma de ser y hacer bibliotecas

Analizando las diferentes definiciones de Responsabilidad Social se puede observar que en resumen se trata de una reacción consciente en la que la institución se percibe a sí misma, a los otros y al entorno en el que desarrolla su actividad asumiendo la responsabilidad de sus actos y el efecto negativo o positivo que éstos pueden tener. Es la toma de conciencia de su existencia, del impacto que tienen sus actos en y con el medio, reconociendo que algo debe y tiene que hacer para medir los efectos de sus acciones.En este trabajo se propone analizar cómo este proceso se da en la biblioteca de la UNGS y con qué premisas o desde qué perspectiva lo lleva adelante. Los distintos tipos de bibliotecas (Populares, escolares, especializadas, universitarias) tienen definido su rol, misión y función en relación al tipo de material que resguardan y al grupo de lectores al que destinan sus servicios. Sin embargo, es posible pensar que aún en esos roles bien definidos, podemos reflexionar en torno a cómo ser y/o hacer biblioteca. Y esto depende del lugar desde donde nos paramos los bibliotecarios para pensar nuestra profesión.
Analyzing the different definitions of Social Responsibility, it can be seen that in summary it is a conscious reaction in which the institution perceives itself, others and the environment in which it carries out its activity, assuming responsibility for its actions and the negative or positive effect that these can have. It is the awareness of one's existence, of the impact that one's actions have on and with the environment, recognizing that something must and has to be done to measure the effects of one's actions. This work proposes to analyze how this process occurs in the UNGS library and with what premises or from what perspective it is carried out. The different types of libraries (Popular, school, specialized, university) have defined their role, mission and function in relation to the type of material they safeguard and the group of readers to which they direct their services. However, it is possible to think that even in these well-defined roles, we can reflect on how to be and/or do a library. And this depends on the place from which we librarians stand to think about our profession.
