El texto propone hacer un análisis en torno a la dimensión política presente en grupos evangélicos y pentecostales en América Latina, nutriéndose de algunos de los estudios que abordan específicamente la configuración popular de dicho sector. La tesis central es que la reconfiguración de los sectores evangélicos y pentecostales en términos de identidad religiosa responden también -de forma efectiva y estratégica a un conjunto de demandas y resignificaciones del campo político regional, a partir de las caracterizaciones propias de su constitución identitaria.
The text offers an analysis of the political dimension present in Evangelical and Pentecostal groups in Latin America, drawing on some of the studies that spe-cifically address the popular configuration of these groups. The central thesis is that the reconfiguration of evangelical and Pentecostal sector in terms of religious identity also responds -in an effective and strategic way- to a set of demands and resignifications of the regional political field, based on their own characterizations of their identity constitution.
