Resumen: los cuatro cruceros acorazados de origen italiano clase Garibaldi se incorporaron a la flota naval argentina entre 1896 y 1898 y prestaron servicios al país hasta promediar la primera mitad del siglo XX. El primero de ellos, bautizado Giuseppe Garibaldi, dio nombre a la clase, y su llegada influyó tanto en la táctica, como en la concepción estratégica de la Argentina, con derivaciones en la política internacional. Todos ellos por sus capacidades, características y el salto tecnológico que implicaron para la Nación, señalaron un rumbo de horizontes más vastos y mayores posibilidades para la Armada Argentina.
Abstract: The four armored cruisers of Italian origin class Garibaldi joined the Argentine naval fleet between 1896 and 1898 and served the country until the middle of the first half of the twentieth century. The first of them, named Giuseppe Garibaldi, gave the class its name, and its arrival influenced both the tactics and the strategic conception of Argentina, with derivations in international politics. All of them because of their capabilities, characteristics and the technological leap that they implied for the Nation, indicated a course of more horizons and greater possibilities for the Argentine Navy.
