On March 16th 2020 the Preventive Voluntary Social Isolation decree was issued due to the outbreak of COVID-19 virus, which keeps the entire world population in a state of alert and worry. A week later, the decree became Mandatory Isolation, bringing about a series of restrictions that have caused a profound impact on our lifestyles, habits and customs. It is clear that we are in a process of transformation: unlike catastrophes, understood as defined events in time and space, the CODIV-19 pandemic presents us with a temporal uncertainty, yet it crosses all geographical boundaries, affecting all spaces, even the most intimate ones, such as the mental and spiritual realms. People are notably suffering the immediate consequences of this phenomenon, here and now, both individually, and collectively in our society. This new reality poses the challenging task on us, intellectuals, and architecture and urbanism teachers, to question and reflect upon two issues that belong to our field: housing and the city.
El 16 de marzo del 2020 inicio el Aislamiento Social Voluntario, en Argentina, a causa de la aparición del virus COVID 19 que tiene en jaque a la población mundial. Una semana después, se convirtió en Aislamiento Obligatorio, con una serie de restricciones que afectaron profundamente nuestras vidas, hábitos y costumbres. Este evento ya se ha convertido en un proceso de transformación. A diferencia de las catástrofes, como sucesos definidos en el tiempo y el espacio, la Pandemia no tiene aún, tiempo definido y afecta todos los espacios, podríamos decir que hasta el más íntimo, el espacio mental, el espacio espiritual. Sus consecuencias ya las estamos sufriendo aquí y ahora, de manera individual y como colectivo social. Esta realidad nos interpela como intelectuales, como docentes de arquitectura y urbanismo, a hacer una serie de reflexiones sobre dos temas de nuestra competencia: la ciudad y la vivienda.
