This article proposes an unconventional analysis of the relationship and tensions between science and common sense through the Tim Burton’s film “Big Fish”, read from an autobiographical perspective regarding the fatherson relationship and their different ways of understanding and approaching knowledge and knowing. This article is nurtured by several various authors who outline alternative perspectives of thought, from hermeneutics, interpretive paradigm, feminist epistemology, and decolonial theory. The writing goes through different moments in the film, which can be interpreted as an allusion to the relationship between relationship between common sense and science, among perception and reason, normality and monstrosity, discourse and story, the written and the oral, truth and fiction, reality and dream.
El artículo propone un análisis heterodoxo de la relación y tensiones existentes entre Ciencia y Sentido Común, a partir del film “Big Fish” de Tim Burton (2003), leído en clave autobiográfica respecto del vínculo paterno-filial y sus diferentes maneras de entender y abordar el conocer y el conocimiento. El escrito se nutre de diversos autores que plantean perspectivas alternativas de pensamiento desde lo hermenéutico, lo interpretativo, la epistemología feminista y lo decolonial. Se recorren distintos momentos del film, visto en esta oportunidad como una alusión a la relación entre ciencia y sentido común, razón y percepción, normalidad y monstruosidad, discurso y relato, lo escrito y lo oral, verdad y ficción, realidad y sueño.
