El presente artículo tiene como propósito poner de manifiesto la necesidad de abordar y trabajar la inteligencia emocional en las aulas de todas las escuelas de nivel medio de nuestro país, puesto que los adolescentes de hoy presentan algunas problemáticas en su trayecto escolar provocadas por sus emociones. Durante más de dieciséis años de ejercer mi profesión como profesora de Biología, he podido observar las dificultades respecto a este tema. Me he preguntado y hasta cuestionado cómo evaluar a los estudiantes cuando tengo conocimiento de sus realidades y hasta cuando ellos mismos me las han manifestado: depresiones, sus pocas ganas de vivir, agresiones a su propio cuerpo, violencia, abusos, abandono... Y ahí surge en mí un gran dilema personal y profesional: ¿Qué modifica en la vida de los jóvenes aprender cómo actúan las células o el sistema digestivo cuando presentan estas problemáticas que los desestabilizan? ¿Cómo debe actuar la escuela? ¿Debemos los docentes trabajar las emociones?
The purpose of this article is to highlight the need to address and work on emotional intelligence in the classrooms of all secondary schools in our country, since today's adolescents present some problems in their school journey caused by their emotions. For more than sixteen years of practicing my profession as a Biology teacher, I have been able to observe the difficulties regarding this issue. I have wondered and even questioned how to evaluate students when I have knowledge of their realities and even when they themselves have expressed them to me: depression, lack of desire to live, attacks on their own body, violence, abuse, abandonment... And there a great personal and professional dilemma arises in me: What does it change in the lives of young people to learn how cells or the digestive system act when they present these problems that destabilize them? How should the school act? Should teachers work on emotions?
