El crecimiento del Área Metropolitana de Mendoza ha tenido como contrapunto la expansión de superficie agrícola en distritos agrícolas de la periferia, atribuibles al corrimiento de su cinturón verde. Existen antecedentes de ello en cinturones como el AMBA, La Plata y Córdoba, donde los procesos de relocalización de explotaciones son parte de la dinámica concomitante del crecimiento de las ciudades. La investigación indaga sobre la existencia de este proceso en contexto de oasis de riego, donde el desplazamiento implica producir en áreas con menor disponibilidad hídrica. El objetivo es analizar las trayectorias socio-productivas de los productores hortícolas en áreas de transformación agrícola en el distrito de Fray Luis Beltrán, por tratarse de un caso emblema del avance de superficie implantada reciente. Con esto, se procura comprender cómo las particularidades de los territorios y sus transformaciones territoriales confluyen con la toma de decisiones y la historia de las empresas. Bajo la perspectiva constructivista del análisis, el desarrollo metodológico cimienta sobre un estudio de caso de tipo instrumental. Se estudian las áreas de transformación del uso del suelo agrícola durante el periodo 2008-2018 en el distrito, y mediante la reconstrucción de las trayectorias socio-productivas de los productores hortícolas protagonistas, se reconstruye la dinámica subyacente a su expansión agrícola.
The growth of the Metropolitan Area of Mendoza had as a contrast the expansion of agricultural land in agricultural districts of the periphery, resulting from the shift of its green belt. There are precedents of this process in belts such as the AMBA, La Plata and Córdoba, where the relocation of farms is part of the associated dynamics of the growth of cities. This research deals with the occurrence of this process in a context of irrigated oases, where displacement implies farming in areas with less water availability. The objective is to analyze socio-productive trajectories of horticultural producers in areas of agricultural transformation in the district of Fray Luis Beltrán, as it is an emblematic case of the recent increase in the implanted area. With this, we seek to understand how the particularities of the territories and their territorial transformations converge with the decision making and history of the enterprises. Following a constructivist perspective, the methodological development is based on an instrumental case study. The research studies the areas of agricultural land use transformation during the period 2008-2018 in the district. It also reconstructs the underlying dynamics of the agricultural expansion through the rebuilding of the socio-productive trajectories of the protagonist horticultural producers. The research provides an understanding of the agricultural expansion process, identifies its enabling conditions and argues the hypothesis of the "relocation" of farms. These are local companies of agrarian origin, whose trajectory is rather one of dissemination with concentration, and whose business strategy is based on agro-industrial integration and the territorial organization of production. Consequently, the advance of horticulture in Fray Luis Beltrán is not a phenomenon directly or linearly driven by the relocation of urbanized farms near the Metropolitan Area of Mendoza.
