Substrate disinfection is essential in ornamental production to reduce pathogens and weeds. Solarization, which uses solar radiation to raise substrate temperatures, is an eco-friendly alternative to chemicals. Its effectiveness depends on the type of polyethylene and temperatures achieved. This study evaluated the effectiveness of solarization with recycled polyethylene and the feasibility of reusing disinfected substrates in the commercial production of Tagetes erecta, a widely cultivated ornamental species.
