Este trabajo explora la relación que unió durante casi una década al etnógrafo suizo Alfred Métraux con el misionero escocés John Arnott, perteneciente a la South American Missionary Society. Se describe la influencia recíproca entre ambos personajes tanto en el ámbito religioso como en el académico. Se analiza, a su vez, el contexto histórico, social y político de las misiones anglicanas en el Chaco argentino en el momento de los viajes etnográficos de Métraux en 1933 y en 1939.
The paper explores the relationship between Swiss ethnographer Alfred Métraux and Scottish missionary John Arnott of the South American Missionary Society, which lasted almost a decade. The reciprocal influence between these individuals is described with regard to both religious and academic factors. The paper also provides an analysis of the historical, social and political context of the Anglican missions in the Argentinian Chaco during 1933-1939, when Métraux did his ethnographic fieldwork.
