Malón de ausencia: Historia hegemónica y relatos en disputa en torno a la “Conquista del desierto”

En este trabajo nos proponemos, primero, analizar los supuestos y alcances que conlleva el relato fundacional y celebratorio de la “Conquista del desierto”. El segundo objetivo consiste en indagar en las formas de consolidación y naturalización de esta narrativa a partir de proponer una periodización con énfasis en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Aun así, pretendemos sopesar que siempre existieron relatos alternativos a la Conquista. Aunque estos se presentaban de forma fragmentada y subalterna –muchas veces desde la memoria social comunitaria y local– fueron cobrando importancia, dado que exponían partes omitidas o silenciadas iluminando los límites de la narrativa hegemónica. El abordaje de estas voces subalternas constituirá un tercer punto de entrada para pensar el relato de la Conquista y sus efectos sociales. Finalmente, retomaremos una serie de conflictos actuales en la Patagonia para analizar las tensiones, reapropiaciones y disputas por la memoria que siguen trayendo a la Conquista del desierto como narrativa de inclusión/exclusión a la matriz estadonación-territorio.
In this work we propose, first, to analyze the assumptions and scope that the founding and celebratory story of the "Conquest of the desert" entails. The second objective is to investigate the forms of consolidation and naturalization of this narrative from proposing a periodization with emphasis on the second half of the 20th century. Even so, we intend to consider that alternative accounts to the Conquest have always existed. Although these were presented in a fragmented and subaltern way - many times from the community and local social memory - they were gaining importance, since they exposed omitted or silenced parts, illuminating the limits of the hegemonic narrative. The approach of these subaltern voices will constitute a third entry point to think about the story of the Conquest and its social effects. Finally, we will return to a series of current conflicts in Patagonia to analyze the tensions, reappropriations and disputes over memory that continue to bring the Conquest of the desert as a narrative of inclusion / exclusion to the state-nation-territory matrix.
