La cárcel correccional como agente cultural: Una aproximación al Buen Pastor (Córdoba, siglos XIX-XX)

El presente trabajo propone reconstruir las notas distintivas que asumió en Córdoba una institución de castigo diseñadaespecíficamente para la población femenina durante fines del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX. A partir de análisis de fuenteshistóricas, sostenemos que la Cárcel del Buen Pastor intervino activamente tanto en la consolidación de representaciones sobre laautoridad legítima en el ejercicio correccional -legitimidad resultante de la confluencia de tres variables: género, clase y religión-como en la producción de subjetividades generizadas al prescribir, la rutina institucional del establecimiento, estrategias decorrección ancladas en torno al ideal de domesticidad.
The present paper proposes to reconstruct the distinctive notes assumed in Córdoba by a punishment institution designed specifically for the female population during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Based on an analysis of historical sources, we maintain that the Good Shepherd Prison actively intervened both in the consolidation of representations of legitimate authority in the correctional exercise -legitimacy resulting from the confluence of three variables: gender, class and religion- as in the production of gendered subjectivities when prescribing, the institutional routine of the establishment, correction strategies anchored around the ideal of domesticity.
