Cuerpo, paisaje y escritura topográfica en Primitive Offensive de Dionne Brand

El presente trabajo explora la relación que Dionne Brand establece en el poemario Primitive Offensive entre paisaje y lenguaje y cómo ese vínculo es mediatizado a través el cuerpo. A partir de la definición de “escritura topográfica”, productiva para pensar cómo la poesía del Caribe de habla inglesa construye su vínculo con el paisaje, se analizan fragmentos del poemario en que se establece un claro cruce entre cuerpo y paisaje mediante el trabajo con la fragmentación como propuesta estética. Se traza un recorte del primer arco narrativo del poemario que va del primer canto al cuarto, en los que se observa una búsqueda obsesiva por los orígenes, que se revelará como ilusoria en la obra de la autora.
This paper explores the relationship established in Primitive Offensive by Dionne Brand between landscape and language and how that link is medialized by the body. With the definition of “topographic writing” as a starting point –a productive category to think how Anglophone Caribbean poetry builds its relationship with landscape– fragments of Primitive Offensive in which there is a clear interlink between body and landscape through fragmentation as an aesthetic approach will be analyzed. The selection of poems covers the first narrative arc in the book, which extends from Canto I to IV, in which there is an obsessive search for the origin, search that would be revealed as an illusion in Brand’s work.
