Transgredir al materialismo dialéctico: Georges Bataille, el bajo materialismo y la heterología

El artículo indaga sobre la recepción del marxismo en las reflexiones heterológicas de Georges Bataille. En este sentido explora el devenir del materialismo dialéctico en un bajo materialismo. Se analiza específicamente el periodo de los años treinta del siglo pasado, sobretodo la producción batailleana en torno a las revistas Documents y La critique Sociale. Es en los artículos allí publicados donde Bataille desarrolla en profundidad su concepción heterológica. Se abordan algunos textos del “Diccionario crítico” y los artículos “El bajo materialismo y la gnosis” y “Crítica a los fundamentos de la dialéctica hegeliana” para observar cómo Bataille recepta conceptos provenientes del pensamiento de Marx y los transgrede yendo más allá de los mismos. En esta dirección, se explora el análisis realizado por el pensador francés sobre nociones marxistas clave, como “materialismo” y “dialéctica”. Aquí, la interpretación de Hegel toma relevancia, sobre todo la realizada por Alexander Kòjeve. Ciertamente el filósofo ruso también es criticado por Bataille por su concepción de “fin de la historia”. Se observa, por tanto, la forma en que Bataille tensa críticamente conceptos de las concepciones ontológicas hegelianas-marxistas-kòjevianas dando lugar a que florezcan sus propias ideas. Así, en este contexto nacen las nociones de “materia baja” y de “negatividad sin empleo”, de importancia fundamental en el pensamiento batailleano. En efecto, sin estas últimas la heterología sería impensable. Se concluye por tanto que la trasgresión de Bataille a los presupuestos ontológicos de la tradición marxista-hegeliana no conforma una metafísica, sino más bien una ética. Pues no se trata de definir una realidad que supere las contradicciones, sino de sostenerse a la altura misma de la contradicción.
The article investigates the reception of Marxism in the heterological re! ections of Georges Bataille. In this sense, it explores the evolution of dialectical materialism into a low materialism. The period of the thirties of the last century is speci" cally analyzed, especially Bataille’s production around the Documents and La critique Sociale magazines. It is in the articles published there that Bataille develops in depth his heterological conception. Some texts of the “Critical Dictionary” and the articles “Low materialism and gnosis” and “Critique of the foundations of Hegelian dialectics” are addressed to observe how Bataille receives concepts from Marx’s thought and transgresses them by going beyond the themselves. In this direction, the analysis carried out by the French thinker on key Marxist notions, such as “materialism” and “dialectics”, is explored. Here, the interpretation of Hegel becomes relevant, especially that made by Alexander Kòjeve. Certainly the Russian philosopher is also criticized by Bataille for his conception of the “end of history”. Therefore, the way in which Bataille critically tenses concepts of the Hegelian-Marxist-Kojevian ontological conceptions is observed, giving rise to the ! ourishing of his own ideas. Thus, in this context the notions of “low matter” and “unemployed negativity” are born, of fundamental importance in Bataille’s thought. Indeed, without the latter, heterology would be unthinkable. It is therefore concluded that Bataille’s transgression of the ontological presuppositions of the Marxist-Hegelian tradition does not constitute a metaphysics, but rather an ethics. For it is not a question of de" ning a reality that overcomes contradictions, but of holding up to the very height of the contradiction.
