Genealogía y función del tiempo en la Ética de Spinoza

El objetivo del artículo es describir el proceso que explica en la Ética el surgimiento de una representación imaginativa del tiempo y de la contingencia que le es consustancial. Para ello analizaremos detalladamente el escolio de EII44 y las referencias explícitas de éste en otras parte del texto. La hipótesis es que, a pesar de no haber una definición explicita del tempus (como sí la hay en otros escritos de Spinoza), en la obra póstuma no desaparece la reflexión acerca de su “naturaleza” y su función. Al contrario, aunque no lo diga explícitamente, sostendremos que el tiempo es un “auxiliar de la imaginación” (auxilia imaginationis), lo cual revela el horizonte particularmente “ético” en el cual es analizado el problema de la temporalidad en esta obra.
This article aims to describe the process that explains the emergence in Ethics of an imaginative representation of time, and of the contingency that is inherent to it. For this purpose, we will analyze in detail the scolium of EII44, and also its explicit references elsewhere in the text. Our hypothesis is that, despite the absence of an explicit definition of tempus (as there is in other writings of Spinoza), in the posthumous work the reflection about its "nature" and its “function” does not disappear. On the contrary, although it is not explicitly stated, we will maintain that time is an “aid of the imagination” (auxilia imaginationis), which reveals the particularly “ethical” horizon in which the problem of temporality is analyzed in this work.
