Crisis, representación y capital

A partir del estallido de la actual crisis mundial era de esperar que la izquierda intelectual y también la política despertaran del letargo en las que los sumió el hundimiento del socialismo real. Sin embargo, hasta el momento no fue así, más allá de algunas excepciones. Este artículo comenta un intercambio de ideas polémico que tuvo lugar en la New Left Review y el ensayo de de F. Jameson, Representing Capital, en el que se propone una relectura del tomo I de El Capital. Ambos aportes recientes son relevantes para la comprensión de la actualidad de la cultura de izquierda. A partir de la revisión de estas dos fuentes, según se argumenta aquí, se vuelven más nítidos algunos problemas políticos determinantes del presente.
Since the outbreak of the current world financial crisis, many thought that the Left would recover from the shock it suffered with the fall of the so-called real existing Socialism. Until now, though, this was not the case. This article focuses on two different texts, both recent and relevant to understand the current state of the Left culture. The first is a discussion that took place in the New Left Review, and the second is F. Jameson’s last book, Representing Capital, where he offers a new reading of volume I of Das Kapital. It is argued here that these two sources show very clearly some of the main political problems of the present.
