"Non est itaque peccatum uxorem alterius concupiscere": El vocabulario del deseo en la Ethica de Pedro Abelardo

El vocabulario concerniente al campo semántico del deseo que utiliza Pedro Abelardo en su Ethica no solo es vastísimo sino que, además, forma parte del léxico técnico de su teoría moral. Por este motivo, en la nueva versión castellana que me encuentro preparando he debido poner especial atención al momento de traducir los términos que lo componen, a fin de que no solo la voz castellana escogida diera cuenta lo mejor posible del matiz conceptual que cada uno entraña, sino también de que no se superpusieran y, por tanto, confundieran entre ellos. Sin embargo, no ha sido posible cumplir cabalmente con esta empresa. Las mayores dificultades surgen ante el verbo concupiscere y el plural de su correspondiente sustantivo, concupiscentia; términos sobre cuya traducción se centra el presente trabajo. Su objetivo es doble: por una parte, poner en discusión las estrategias teórico-prácticas a las que he recurrido; por otra, valerme de este caso para reflexionar sobre los alcances y límites de las pretendidas traducciones literales en general.
The vocabulary concerning the semantic field of desire that Peter Abelard uses in his Ethica is not only vast, but also part of the technical lexicon of his moral theory. For this reason, I have had to pay special attention when translating the terms that compose it, so that not only the chosen Spanish word would give the best possible conceptual nuance that each one entails, but also that they do not overlap between them. However, it has not been possible to fully comply with this task. The greatest difficulties arose with the verb concupiscere and the plural of its corresponding noun, concupiscentia; terms on whose translation this paper focuses. Its objective is twofold: on the one hand, to discuss the theoretical-practical strategies to which I have resorted; on the other, to reflect on the scope and limits of the so-called literal translations.
