Testimonio y figura de Enrique Shaw entre el empresariado católico

Enrique Shaw (1921-1962), dirigente de la Acción Católica, empresario y fundador de la Asociación Cristiana de Dirigentes de Empresa (ACDE), declarado como venerable en 2021 por la Iglesia Católica y en actual proceso de canonización, despierta emoción, admiración e interés entre creyentes católicos que buscan divulgar su historia de vida y testimonio. Este trabajo, realizado en el marco de una investigación antropológica en curso sobre el empresariado católico de Córdoba (Argentina) realizará, en primer lugar, una aproximación a la historia y morfología de la ACDE Córdoba. Luego, se centrará en las ideas y el testimonio de su fundador, lo que permitirá caracterizar su pensamiento y figura. Por último, el artículo indagará las representaciones sociales de empresarios católicos de Córdoba, algunos de ellos asociados a la ACDE, en torno a las ideas de Shaw. Para la construcción de los datos se emplean entrevistas biográficas realizadas entre 2022 y 2023 y análisis del diario católico Los Principios. Las conclusiones permiten observar, por un lado, que los vínculos entre la ACDE Córdoba y el arzobispado local son históricos. Y, por otro lado, se identifica una diversidad de posicionamientos sobre Shaw: algunos reconocen sus ideas como un ejemplo y otros poseen miradas distantes y críticas.
Enrique Shaw (1921-1962), leader of Catholic Action, businessman and founder of the Christian Association of Business Leaders (ACDE), declared venerable in 2021 by the Catholic Church and currently in the process of canonization, evoke emotion, admiration and interest among Catholic believers who seek to spread his life story and testimony. This work, carried out within the framework of an ongoing anthropological research on Catholic entrepreneurship in Córdoba (Argentina), will first provide an approximation to the history and morphology of ACDE Córdoba. Then, it will focus on the ideas and testimony of its founder, which will allow us to characterize his thought and figure. Finally, the article will investigate the social representations of Catholic businessmen in Córdoba, some of them associated with ACDE, related to Shaw's ideas. For the construction of the data, biographical interviews conducted between 2022 and 2023 and analysis of the Catholic newspaper Los Principios are used. The conclusions allow us to observe, on the one hand, that the links between ACDE Córdoba and the local Archbishopric are historical. And, on the other hand, a diversity of positions on Shaw is identified: some recognise his ideas as an example and others have distant and critical perspectives.
