Teatro y Afrodescendencia en Buenos Aires

Mediante el análisis comparativo de dos obras de la compañía teatral afrodescendiente TES–Teatro en Sepia, se revisa la relación entre archivo, repertorio y memorias en el contexto de Buenos Aires, ciudad autodesignada como “blanca-europea”. Las obras Calunga Andumba (de Carmen y Susana Platero) y Afrolatinoamericanas. De voces, susurros, gritos y silencios (textos seleccionados por Alejandra Egido y Lea Geler) fueron presentadas en la ciudad de Buenos Aires entre 2011 y 2013, dirigidas por Alejandra Egido. Comparando ambos proyectos, se argumenta que estas obras contribuyeron a generar nuevas memorias, subjetividades y posibilidades de subversión al sistema racial establecido. El presente estudio es una propuesta para repensar el pasado y el presente desde el arte.
This paper focuses on two theatrical plays: Calunga Andumba (by Carmen and Susana Platero) and Afrolatinoamericanas. De voces, susurros, gritos y silencios (texts chosen by Alejandra Egido and Lea Geler). These plays were staged in Buenos Aires between 2011 and 2013 by the Afro-Descendant Theatrical Company TES-Teatro en Sepia, both under the direction of Alejandra Egido. Comparing these two projects will allow to re-think the relationship between archive, repertoire and memory in Buenos Aires, a city self-proclaimed as white-European. It will also let us think how these plays could have opened spaces for the changing of subjectivities and for the subversion of the established racial system.
