Movilidades urbanas y desigualdad espacial: Una contribución para su estudio en San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina)

This article examines spatial inequality in San Carlos de Bariloche in Argentina. Based on two geographical areas socially and economically heterogeneous, one linked to the local tourist centre and other to the popular sectors "del alto", the urban mobilities of the residents of two neighborhoods located in them are analyzed: the Belgrano neighborhood and El Frutillar. The concept of mobility is used to evaluate mobility capacities (and therefore, potential mobility) by investigating daily journeys. The corpus consists mainly of in-depth interviews conducted in eight homes in these neighbourhoods. It is concluded that the capacity to move is lower among the inhabitants of El Frutillar, and this reduces their possibilities for moving and appropriating spaces in the city.
