La noción de virtualidad escénica en la Poética de Aristóteles

La virtualidad escénica es una noción clave dentro de los estudios teatrales y, en especial, en relación al análisis del texto teatral. Modifica su carácter literario y evidencia su potencialidad escénica. A partir de ella, se conecta la instancia textual con la espectacular. Del mismo modo que el texto es parte del espectáculo, a partir de la virtualidad escénica, éste está presente en aquél. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en identificar en La Poética y en La Retórica argumentaciones relacionadas con la virtualidad escénica. Esta noción es sumamente significativa porque implica una característica del texto teatral que refiere a su especificidad disciplinar. El hecho de que Aristóteles tenga en cuenta de manera explícita dicha particularidad del producto poético demuestra, por un lado, que es conocedor de dicha especificidad. Por otro, el hecho de incluirla en las recomendaciones al poeta para la correcta composición de la trama implica que el filósofo aboga por ella. Es decir, que su concepción del teatro incluye el espectáculo, no es indistinto que el producto poético se represente o no y, además, que valora dicha instancia.
Scenic virtuality is a key notion within theater studies and, especially, regarding the analysis of the theatrical text. It modifi es its literary character and shows its scenic potentiality. On its basis, the textual instance is connected with the stage one. In the same way that the text is part of the performance, based on the scenic virtuality, this one is present in the text. This work aims to identify arguments related to scenic virtuality in Artistotle’s Poetics and Rhetoric. This notion is extremely signifi cant because it implies a characteristic of the theatrical text that refers to its disciplinary specificity. The fact that Aristotle explicitly takes into account this particularity of the poetic product shows, on the one hand, that he is aware of this specificity. On the other, the fact of including it in the recommendations to the poet for the correct composition of the plot implies that the philosopher advocates for it. That is to say that his conception of the theater includes the performance, that it is not indistinct that the poetic product is represented or not and, furthermore, that he values said instance.
