Se registra por tercera vez para Argentina, segunda para la Provincia de Buenos Aires, a la especie Eurhopalothrix bruchi. Además se realiza el primer registro de una colonia y se describe por primera vez a la Reina. El nido estaba compuesto por 6 individuos hembra, 48 obreras y 6 pupas. Las reinas se caracterizaron por no poseer alas durante ninguna fase (reina interomorfica), por esta razón se sugiera que la fisión fue el mecanismo de origen de la colonia.
Eurhopalothrix bruchiis the only species of the genus present in Argentina. We present only the third record of this species from Argentina and describe for the first time the female and characteristics of the colony. The nest collected had 48 workers, 6 queens, and 4 pupae. The queens are characterized as wingless, without wing sclerites, and worker-like. The scarcity of pre-imaginal stages suggests that fission of the colony led to the nest’s foundation.
