Quinto Aurelio Símaco y la inmortalización de un paradigma

En el presente estudio se pretende comprender los motivos por los cuales Quinto Aurelio Símaco buscó asegurar la pervivencia de los valores e ideales que conformaron la mentalidad del ordo senatorial, "la mejor agrupación del género humano" (Símaco, Cartas, L I, 52), patrocinando ante las autoridades imperiales la reposición del altar de la Victoria en la Curia de Senado romano. Este trabajo se basa en el análisis de la tercera relatio simaquiana referida a la temática investigada. A partir de la lectura crítica de tal documentación, se intentará inferir el verdadero alcance de los sucesos relacionados con la defensa de los valores tradicionales del ordo senatorial inmersa en la compleja problemática religiosa, social y política de la cuarta centuria.
The present study aims to understand the reasons why Quintus Aurelius Symmachus sought to ensure the survival of the values and ideals that conformed the mentality of the senatorial ordo, "the best grouping of mankind" (Symmachus, Letters, LI, 52), supported in front of the imperial authorities the replenishment of the altar of Victory in the Roman Senate Curia. This work is based on the analysis of the third relatio simaquiana referred to the subject investigated. From the critical reading of this documentation, we will try to infer the true extent of the events related to the defense of the traditional values of the senatorial ordo immersed in a complex problematic in religious, social and political life of the fourth century.
