La Stasi en Pinterest: notas sobre memoria, imágenes y estetización

En este artículo nos proponemos analizar tres sitios de memoria de la República Democrática Alemana (RDA), a saber, el Archivo de la Stasi en Rostock (Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv Rostock), la “Torre de vigilancia del Mar Báltico” en la antigua frontera entre la República Democrática Alemana y la República Federal Alemana en Kühlungsborn (Ostsee-Grenzturm Museum) y el Memorial Berlín-Hohenschönhausen (Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen). Sostenemos, a partir de dicho análisis, que el universo material de estos sitios de memoria y las imágenes que construyen sobre el pasado no sólo reflejan las tensiones que pueblan la memoria colectiva sobre el pasado comunista, sino que también contribuyen a construirlo activando un relato visual particularmente poderoso en el presente que dialoga con otras estéticas que circulan en el marco del fenómeno de la Ostalgie y de dinámicas propias de las redes sociales.
In this article we aim to analyze three sites of memory of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), namely the Stasi Archive in Rostock (Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv Rostock), the "Baltic Sea Watchtower" on the former border between the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany in Kühlungsborn (Ostsee-Grenzturm Museum) and the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial (Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen). We argue, based on this analysis, that the material universe of these sites of memory and the images they construct about the past not only reflect the tensions that populate the collective memory about the communist past, but also contribute to constructing it by activating a particularly powerful visual narrative in the present that dialogues with other aesthetics that circulate within the framework of the Ostalgie phenomenon and the dynamics of social media.
