- Descripción
- There has been lately an increasing interest in the study of nonpolynomial Lagranglans, either as a consequence of the consideration of nonlinear realizations of the chiral group or as a possible way to provide a built-in cut-off for the divergences in quantum field theory. The problem arises, then, of giving a meaning to some expressions which appear to be not well defined, or else quantities whose Fourier transforms are divergent. One of the methods used to give meaning to those ambiguous expressions is the analytic regularization method where a complex parameter is introduced in the propagator. We intend to study these questions from a different point of view. Instead of trying to give a meaning to ill-defined quantities, we propose to regularize directly the Lagrangian in such a way that the resultant propagator is similar to those that appear in the analytic regularization method.
