A study of the Galactic HI supershell GS 121-05-037

GS 121-05-037 es una supercáscara galáctica ubicada en la parte exterior de la galaxia en (l,b) ~ (121.°3, —4.°8) a una distancia de 3.2 ± 1 kpc del Sol. En este trabajo estimamos la energía cinética de la estructura para determinar su posible origen. Varias regiones Η π catalogadas se ubican proyectadas sobre la supercáscara. Con con el objetivo de determinar si las regiones Η π fueron originadas por la expansión de la supercáscara, desarrollamos un método para detectar las fuentes generadoras de las regiones Η π y para determinar si están ubicadas a la misma distancia que la supercáscara. Para ello, utilizamos datos fotométricos y astrométricos de GAIA DR3 junto con fotometría 2MASS.
GS 121-05-037 is a Galactic supershell located in the outer part of the Galaxy at (l,b) ~ (121.°3, —4.°8) at a distance of 3.2 ± 1 kpc from the Sun. In this work we estimated the kinetic energy of the feature to determine its possible origin. Several catalogued Η π regions are located projected towards the supershell. With the aim of determining if the Η π regions were triggered by the expansion of the supershell we developed a method to detect the generating sources of the Η π regions an to determine if they are located at the same distance than the supershell. To this end, we made use of photometric and astrometric data from GAIA DR3 in conjunction with 2MASS photometry.
