Descripción
During the last few years there has been significant research activity in the area of mobile agents. Some aspects such as different alternatives of implementation, security and architecture have been extremely relevant. One aspect that has not been dealt with in depth until now is that that refers to the evaluation of both, the applications based in mobile agents and the support provided by mobile agent systems. The relevant areas to be evaluated include the performance obtained from the user’s view point (for example response delay) and the load and consumption of resources produced in the network and mobile agent servers. The evaluation of mobile agent systems becomes more important if one is considering situations in which mobile agent systems supporting a large number of applications exist together in the network. The evaluation must include therefore aspects related to support alternatives for example schemes of addressing and location of mobile agents, and such as those referred to different strategies employed at the application level, for example the use of one agent or of multiple agents in information search and/or information filter applications. This paper presents a support that allows the simplified development of mobile agent systems in the simulation environment Ns. The object is to make possible the evaluation by means of simulation, of different supports and applications based on mobile agents.
