Perturbaciones ionosféricas viajeras (PIV) debidas a tormentas solares

La generación de ondas gravitatorias en la región auroral por calentamiento ionosférico permite la observación do PIV, que se desplazan hacia el ecuador. Durante un periodo muy perturbado (Septiembre 1977) se observa sobre la Estación Ionosférica Buenos Aires el efecto de las ondas gravitatorias que dan lugar a las PIV. Algunos ejemplos de intensas modificaciones ionosféricas en la región E debidas a este fenómeno son analizadas.
Gravity waves generated in the auroral region by ionospheric heating permit the observation of Travelling Ionospheric Dlsturbances (TID’s) which move towards the equator. During an extremely disturbed period (September 1977) the effect of gravity waves which give rise to TID's were detected at Buenos Aires Ionospheric Station. Some examples of intense modifications at E-region heights due to this phenomena are analyzed.
