“¿Cómo lees?” (Lc 10,26) : una pregunta a Michael Theobald

Resumen: El artículo entra en diálogo crítico con la reseña que Michael Theobald hizo del tercer volumen de Jesús de Nazaret, de J. Ratzinger/Benedicto XVI. La respuesta ensayada se sintetiza en la cuestión, todavía candente, de cómo ha de leerse la Escritura en el seno de la Iglesia católica. El método histórico-crítico es imprescindible pero no constituye la última palabra. Ignorando la Tradición eclesial así como los propios límites del método histórico-crítico, Theobald compromete verdades sensibles a la fe cristiana –concepción virginal y resurrección corporal de Jesús– en razón de una supuesta cientificidad. ¿Hasta qué punto es posible disociar la fe del factum historicum?
Abstract: This paper goes into a critical dialogue with Michael Theoblad’s review of J. Ratzinger/Benedict XVI third volume of Jesus of Nazareth. The answer here attempted focuses on the burning issue of how Scripture should be read in the Catholic Church. The historical-critical method is certainly essential but has not the last word. Ignoring Church Tradition, as well as the limits of historical- critical method, Theobald compromises in the name of science, truths which are relevant to the Christian faith, such as the virginal conception and Jesus’s corporal resurrection. How far is it possible to separate faith from historical fact?
