Resumen: El autor presenta a Monseñor Pironio, quien estuvo como Secretario de la II Conferencia del Episcopado Latinoamericano en Medellín. Su figura ha sido muy importante para ese acontecimiento eclesial y sus aportes han dado un marco de referencia a la reflexión de los pastores allí reunidos. Pero su obrar no quedó sujeto sólo a esos días sino que fue un entusiasta transmisor de su “espíritu”, y al mismo tiempo garante de una auténtica interpretación. Durante toda su vida, en fidelidad eclesial, fue su testigo y desde esta posición aportó a la Iglesia universal mostrando el rostro propio de América Latina.
Abstract: The author introduces Monseñor Pironio who, at the time was Secretary of the II Conference of the Latin American Episcopate in Medellín. He has been very impor- tant for this ecclesiastic event and his contributions have given a frame of reference to the critical thought of the shepherds gathered there. Due to his actions it did not remain subject to those days but also to the fact that he was an enthusiastic commu- nicator of its 'spirit' and, at the same time defender of an authentic interpretation. During all his life in ecclesiastic fidelity, he was witness and, from that position he contributed to the universal Church showing the particular picture of Latin America.
