Criptomonedas: correcto tratamiento de la terminología bilingüe (español-inglés)

Cualquier lengua viva se ve permanente modificada debido a la necesidad de crear nuevos términos para discutir y designar desarrollos tecnológicos. En la modernidad, se ha afianzado la posición del inglés como lengua por excelencia para la divulgación científica y los traductores de español deben decidir cómo incorporar los neologismos anglosajones, acerca de los cuales puede aún no existir bibliografía o recomendaciones de uso. Expertos en la lengua e instituciones regularizadoras intentan llegar a una verdad absoluta acerca de cuál es el método correcto para tratar a los extranjerismos. Uno de los avances tecnológicos más importantes de los últimos 15 años ha sido la creación de las criptomonedas, que revolucionaron las finanzas internacionales. En el marco de esta nueva terminología, ¿existen recomendaciones de uso por parte de expertos e instituciones? ¿Son adecuadas? ¿Podríamos utilizar un solo método de incorporación para todos los términos? ¿Se puede ya analizar el uso que se le dan a estas palabras en textos en español existentes? ¿Estas soluciones son semántica y funcionalmente correctas? Este trabajo pretende realizar recomendaciones sobre el tratamiento de términos novedosos del texto fuente sobre criptomonedas y proveer al traductor una hoja de ruta para investigar neologismos y tomar decisiones fundadas al traducirlos, dejando la puerta abierta para futuras investigaciones de nueva terminología surgida.
All living languages are permanently modified as it is necessary to create new terms to discuss and describe advances in technology. In modern times, the role of English as the prominent language for scientific communication has been reinforced, and translators of Spanish have to decide how to incorporate English neologisms, which may not appear in the literature and for which there may not be recommendations. Language experts and regulatory institutions attempt to discover an absolute truth as to which is the correct method to tackle foreignisms. One of the most important advances of the last 15 years have been cryptocurrencies, which have revolutionized global finances. In connection with this new terminology, are there recommendations by experts and institutions on how to use them? Are these recommendations appropriate? Could we use a single method to incorporate all terms? Is it possible to analyze these words in already-existing texts in Spanish? Are these solutions correct from a semantic and functional point of view? This paper's goal is to issue recommendations on how to manage novelty terms from the source text on cryptocurrencies and provide translators with a roadmap to investigate neologisms and make informed decisions when translating them, while leaving the door open for future research of any arising terminology.
