Resumen: A través de tres libros de viaje hispánicos, El Libro del Conocimiento, La Descripción de África de León el Africano y El sueño de África de Javier Reverte, auténticos hitos de información y divulgación de un continente casi ignoto, vislumbramos perspectivas y expresiones de “otredad” importantes de analizar. En los dos primeros, situar en este continente lo misterioso, la aventura, no era difícil y el lector podía quedar fascinado; en el tercero, esta fascinación, por el mayor conocimiento material del mismo, puede permanecer en el sueño de lo que todavía no está sometido a los cánones alienantes de la cultura occidental.
Abstract: Through three Hispanic travel books, El libro del conocimiento, La Descripción de África by León el Africano and El sueño de África by Javier Reverte, authentic information and divulgation milestones from an almost unknown continent, we can glimpse other perspectives and expressions of “otherness” which are relevant for our analysis. In the first two books, to place in this continent mystery and adventure was not difficult and it could fascinate the reader; in the third one, this fascination, because of the greater knowledge of the material itself, can remain in the dream of what is still not under the alienating cannons of Occidental culture.
