Resumen: El presente trabajo indaga en términos generales el lugar otorgado a la prensa católica en la Diócesis y luego Arquidiócesis de Santa Fe en las primeras décadas del siglo pasado y puntualmente aspectos del proceso que hizo posible la aparición del diario católico La Mañana en 1937 en relación a la actividad asumida por el Pbro. Antonio Rodríguez, eclesiástico cercano a la Jerarquía arzobispal y Director-Censor del Boletín Oficial de laArquidiócesis. En este sentido, el proyecto periodístico visto en perspectiva histórica nos permite dar cuenta de determinadas marcas que lo afilian a las condiciones de posibilidad no sólo en el contexto de una determinada gestión pastoral de la Iglesia argentina en los años treinta sino al campo de ideas abierto o potenciado por la Guerra Civil Española.
Abstract: This paper inquires, in general, into the place given to the Catholic press in the Diocese and later Archidiocese of Santa Fe over the first decades of the last century, and, in particular, into aspects of the process that paved the way to the appearance of the Catholic daily newspaper La Mañana in 1937, in relation to the activity undertaken by Presbyter Antonio Rodríguez, an ecclesiastic clase to the Archiepiscopal Authorities and Director-Censor of the Official Gazette ofthe Archisiocese. In this sense, seen from the historical perspective, the joumalistic project enables us to explain certain marks that affiliates it to the possibility of conditions not only within the context of the specific pastoral development of the Argentine Church in the 1930's but also in relation to the fields of ideas opened or boosted by the Spanish Civil War.
