Un grupo interdisciplinario de investigadores internacionales ha venido trabajando durante mucho tiempo en torno al enfoque Learning by Observing and Pitching In (LOPI). En esta obra se aborda la última versión conceptual del enfoque LOPI propuesto por Rogoff en 2014. Este volumen incluye también referencias a importantes predecesores teóricos de este modelo, tales como Rogoff, Mistry, G€oncu, y Mosier (1993), Rogoff, Paradise, Mejı´a-Arauz, Correa- Chávez y Angelillo (2003), Rogoff et al. (2007), Paradise and Rogoff (2009), y Rogoff, Alcalá et al. (2014). Algunas de las versiones anteriores de este modelo se denominaron aprendizaje por participación intencional y participación intencional en la comunidad.
