Repression and sense dispute in the mass press. The Maldonado, Nahuel and the Mapuche people through the newspaper Clarín

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo explorar, mediante una metodología cuali- cuantitativa, las declaraciones circulantes en la prensa masiva acerca de los casos de Santiago Maldonado, Rafael Nahuel y el movimiento de reivindicación mapuche. Se analiza un conjunto de declaraciones realizadas por diversos actores entre el 1° de agosto y el 31 de diciembre de 2017, registradas por el diario de mayor difusión nacional, "Clarín". El supuesto general que sigue este trabajo es que en la medida en que se registran hechos de represión a experiencias cuestionadoras del orden social comienza una disputa por el sentido de las acciones y de las personificaciones intervinientes; que dicha disputa tiende a incrementarse en relación con la sucesión de hechos relevantes y que, durante la misma, las representaciones registradas están orientadas principalmente a descalificar a las acciones y las personificaciones (y aliados) cuestionadoras del orden social, como forma de legitimización de las acciones represivas y del mismo orden social.
This article aims to explore, through a qualitative-quantitative methodology, the statements circulating in the mass media about the cases of Santiago Maldonado, Rafael Nahuel and the Mapuche claim movement. We analyze a set of statements made by various actors, between August 1 and December 31, 2017, recorded by the newspaper with the largest national circulation, "Clarín". The general assumption that follows this work is that to the extent that acts of repression are recorded to questioning experiences of the social order, a dispute begins over the meaning of the actions and the personifications involved; that said dispute tends to increase in relation to the succession of relevant events and that, during it, the registered representations are mainly aimed at disqualifying the actions and the personifications (and allies) who question the social order, as a way of legitimizing the repressive actions and the same social order.
