- Descripción
- Facing rapid urbanization, territorial inequality, and environmental stress, Argentina’s urban regions demand new ways of seeing. This ongoing project focuses on the development of a geoportal for thematic web cartography on urban territories in Argentina. The project combines statistical data (1991–2022) with open geospatial technologies (QGIS, Leaflet) to produce high-resolution, interactive maps. These maps are published through a geoportal designed according to principles of accessibility, responsive design, and narrative clarity. The notion of meta-responsive cartography— maps that adapt to different user profiles and reinforce the communicative goal of each dataset—guides the design approach. Through tools that emphasize multiscale sociospatial dynamics, such as thematic layers and interactive texts, the geoportal enables both expert and non-expert users to explore the complexity of urban territories in Argentina. By visualizing patterns of urban concentration, ecological encroachment, and socio-demographic transformation, the platform supports critical knowledge, fostering informed decision-making and inclusive urban futures.
