La escena española: Notas sobre la labor política y periodística de Dardo Cúneo durante la Guerra Civil Española

El artículo analiza los cruces entre izquierda, periodismo e industria cultural a la luz de la trayectoria periodística y política del escritor, periodista y dirigente socialista Dardo Cúneo (1914-2011), durante el transcurso de la Guerra Civil Española. Analiza la labor de Cúneo como cronista y corresponsal durante su viaje a la península en 1936 y sus escritos sobre el conflicto publicados en la prensa socialista y de gran tirada de Buenos Aires, y los pone en relación con sus cambiantes posicionamientos en el interior del Partido Socialista y con los roles que ocupó en sus estrategias y estructuras mediáticas. Sostiene que el análisis de las lecturas socialistas del conflicto español debe considerar las prácticas periodísticas que las habilitaban y, al mismo tiempo, condicionaban. Asimismo, afirma que la Guerra Civil Española constituyó un momento bisagra respecto del lugar que ocupaba el socialismo en el mercado periodístico y de sus relaciones con los principales actores de la prensa popular.
The article analyzes the intersections between the left, journalism and the cultural industry based on the journalistic and political trajectory of the writer, journalist and socialist leader Dardo Cúneo (1914- 2011), during the course of the Spanish civil war. It analyzes Cúneo’s work as a chronicler and correspondent during his trip to the peninsula in 1936 and his writings on the conflict published in the socialist press and the big press, and puts them in relation to his changing positions within the Socialist Party and with the roles that he occupied in the socialist media structures and strategies. The article maintains that the analysis of the socialist readings of the Spanish conflict must consider the journalistic practices that enabled them and, at the same time, conditioned them. Likewise, it affirms that the Spanish civil war constituted a pivotal moment regarding the place that socialism occupied in the journalistic market and its relations with the main actors of the popular press.
