De Sherlock a Marlowe: Elementos del género negro en el policial argentino temprano

La crítica coincide en datar el inicio del hard-boiled en 1922 con la publicación del relato "El falso Burton Combs", de Carroll John Daly. En Argentina, la recepción y consolidación del género se afianzan durante la década de 1960. Sin embargo, es posible rastrear en un conjunto de relatos de comienzos del siglo XX una serie de rasgos que más tarde se constituirían para la crítica especializada como distintivos del hard-boiled. Entendemos que no se trata de leer estos textos como meros "precursores" de las narraciones del negro, sino revisar las maneras en las que en el policial argentino se comienzan a cuestionar ciertos modos de pensar el género y sus convenciones. En esta búsqueda, el policial se cruza (y apropia) de elementos de la prensa, el cine y otros lenguajes masivos que proporcionan temáticas y procedimientos estilísticos novedosos para el período.
Literary critics agree in dating the beginning of the hard-boiled in 1922 with the publication of the story "The False Burton Combs", by Carroll John Daly. In Argentina, the reception and consolidation of the genre was stipulated during the 1960s. However, it is possible to trace in a set of stories from the early twentieth century several features that would later become, for specialized critics, the distinctive mark of hard-boiled. We aim not to read these texts as mere "precursors" of hard-boiled narratives, but to review the ways in which Argentine detective fiction began to question certain ways of thinking about the genre and its conventions. In this search, the detective story interacts (and appropriates) elements of the press, cinema and other mass languages that provide novel thematic and stylistic procedures for the period.
