Uti y abuti ratione según Gilberto Crispino

Este artículo se propone precisar, por una parte, cuál es el sentido que la expresión «abuti ratione» asume en la obra de Gilberto Crispino, dado que no solo cada uno de los términos que la componen –abuti y ratio– es ambiguo en sí mismo por su propia polisemia, sino también porque, incluso precisados sus correspondientes significados, la expresión completa no deja de ser problemática. Por otra parte, se pretende emprender una primera etapa de análisis sobre el dinamismo anímico según lo concibe Crispino. Para ello, he dividido el trabajo en tres momentos. El primero de ellos está dedicado a considerar de manera general qué entiende nuestro autor por ratio y cuál es el lugar que ella ocupa en su teoría. El segundo momento consiste en un breve examen filológico e histórico del término abuti con el fin de delimitar las posibles acepciones que este verbo tan particular pudiera admitir en relación con ratio. Finalmente, en un tercer momento se estudia la aplicación concreta de «abuti ratione» en la obra de este abad del siglo XI.
The aim of the present paper is to specify, on the one hand, what is the meaning of the expression «abuti ratione» in the work of Gilbert Crispin, since not only each of the terms that composes it –abuti and ratio– is ambiguous due to its own polysemy, but also because, even if their corresponding meanings are specified, the complete expression does not cease to be problematic. On the other hand, it intends to undertake a first stage of analysis on the dynamism of the soul as Crispin conceives it. Bearing this intention in mind, I divided the paper in three parts. The first one is dedicated to considering, broadly speaking, what our author understands by ratio and the place that it occupies in his theory. The second part consists of a brief philological and historical examination of the term abuti in order to narrow down the possible meanings that this particular verb could admit in relation to ratio. Finally, the third part studies the concrete application of abuti ratione in the work of this abbot of the eleventh century.
