Descripción
Has internationalism from below been kidnapped by the far right? In thisarticle we explore how an emergent “far-right international” responds andseeks to capture forms of “internationalism from below,” which in recent years have included transfeminist, anti-racist, and environmentalist struggles (Gago 2020). We are interested in placing these struggles within a saga of theories and movements that preceded them and within an expanded geographic imagination of liberation and social justice. In this sense, interna-tionalism from below refers to principles, methods, and dynamics of solidar-ity across and between struggles in different territories and with different genealogies. Overlapping with the concept of plurinationalism, it points to a constellation of struggles, strikes, and actions that empower each other as they are woven together at different scales. We thus distinguish between internationalism and the far-right international to avoid conflating the latter’sglobal dynamics with the histories and forms of emancipatory international-ism explored in this dossier.
