Reflejos del Patronato en el historiador jesuita Pedro Lozano S.J.

El Real Patronato era una merced otorgada por los Papas a los reyes para cubrir los cargos eclesiásticos, especialmente estimado para los de mayor jerarquía como obispos y canónigos; en el caso de los obispos, los reyes podían proponer tres candidatos para el nombramiento de los obispos. En La historia de la conquista escrita por el historiador de la Compañía de Jesús, Pedro Lozano (1697 - 1752), quien enumera los obispos de las diócesis de Asunción, Buenos Aires y Tucumán, desde su fundación hasta la primera mitad del siglo XVIII, se refleja una mayor importancia a la elección de Su Majestad para dicha recomendación que al otorgamiento de las bulas papales. En este trabajo nos proponemos analizar las relaciones entre Iglesia y Estado, en torno al Real Patronato desde una historia social de la historiografía; ya que intentamos destacar este tema desde la mirada de un historiador jesuita del siglo XVIII, considerando que nos puede mostrar el universo de opiniones de un época. Ya que el historiador debe elegir entre la Corona y la Iglesia, al servicio de quien escribir su historia, por este contexto esperamos que el análisis del Real Patronato sea muy rico.
The Royal Patronage was a mercy granted by the Popes to the kings to cover the ecclesiastic charges, specially estimated for those of major hierarchy as bishops, canons and parsons; in case of the bishops the kings propose three candidates could for the appointment of the bishops. In The history of the conquest written by the historian of the Company of Jesus, Pedro Lozano (1697 - 1752), who enumerates the bishops of Asunción, Buenos Aires and Tucumán's dioceses, from this foundation up to the first half of the 18th century, a major importance reflects to the choice of Your Majesty for the above mentioned recommendation that to the grant of the papal bullas. In this work we propose to analyze the relations between Church and State, concerning the Royal Patronage from a social history of the historiography; since we try to emphasize this topic from the look of a historian jesuit of the 18th century, considering that can show us the universe of opinions of an age. Since the historian must choose between the State and the Church, to the service of whom to write your history, for this context we hope that the analysis of the Royal Patronage is very rich.
