La herstory de Fe Verdejo en Fe en disfraz, de Mayra Santos-Febres

Al decir de Mercedes Jabardo Velasco, crear, narrar, relatar su propia historia: herstory, como señala Hazel Carby, es el camino obligado que recorren los feminismos otros. La propuesta de este trabajo radica en articular en Fe en disfraz (2009) de Mayra Santos-Febres, la historia de su protagonista Fe Verdejo, una historiadora y museógrafa venezolana negra, a cuyas manos llegan casualmente documentos historiográficos -que se creían inexistentes- de otras herstories o denuncias históricas de manumisas negras latinoamericanas del siglo XVIII. Frente al hallazgo, en un viaje de examen y reafirmación de su esencia, Fe irá construyendo dialógicamente su propia herstory en la que se entretejerán su genealogía, su cuerpo y sus recuerdos fusionados en su ser - académica. Y, en ese transcurrir, Fe se irá apropiando del dolor que oculta placer/sufrimiento, para emerger finalmente en armonía.
In the words of Mercedes Jabardo Velasco, to create, to narrate, to tell her own story: herstory, as Hazel Carby points out, is the obligatory path taken by other feminisms. For this reason, the proposal that is suggested on this work consists in assembling in the novel Fe en disfraz (Fe in costume, 2009), by the Puerto Rican writer Mayra Santos-Febres, the story of her protagonist, Fe Verdejo, a black Venezuelan historian and museographer into whose hands come by chance, historiographical documents - thought to be non-existent -. They are other herstories or historical complaints of black manumitted females, Latin Americans of the XVIII century. Faced with such a discovery, in a journey of examination and reaffirmation of her essence, Fe would dialogically build her own Herstory in which her genealogy, her body and in that process, Fe will appropriate the pain that ides pleasure/suffering, to eventually emerge in harmony.
